Why we do it
Growing up in Penzance exposed us to a strange mix. From the sunny, laid back, lethargic summers to the cosy, rain-heavy, and dark winters. Sometimes the world Penzance introduces to you is not a world of a prospering future and positivity, but rather a sense of isolation, rejection, and deprivation. We, at Become You CIC, want other young people to have opportunities in the creative arts, and to build a culture of unity and hope, where people's pride in the town is not of the struggle they have to face, but rather the pride in the positivity of a generation that embraces change and creation.
How we do it
We are a young people-led Cornish creative Community Interest Company, formed in September 2022, looking to address the lack of opportunities for young people in Cornwall. We do this by investigating identity, creativity, aspiration and skills through the provision of creative projects which include elements of coaching, youth counselling, wellbeing activities and heritage and cultural events. We are working towards delivering a hip, creative Aspiration Hub in Penzance, Cornwall, UK for 13-25 year olds, who are marginalised and/or in need and who live in Cornwall.
